My Body is Adapting
Today we had my grandmas 60th surprise birthday party, and as many of you can think there was plenty of sweet and junk food there! I was so proud of myself for controlling my hunger for those type of foods! And to be quite honest I really didn't even want a piece of cake! I was so shocked on that one! I think that my body is adapting and not craving as many sweets at it use too, which I am really excited about!! I hope that when this is all over that my body crave less than what it already does.

Still Truckin Along
This is the first week that I have been back at school, and things are going better than I expected. For the entire week I have done great! No cheating is my goal for the rest of the duration. I am so proud of myself because I thought that the week I would come back from spring break would be awful on me. But it is not at all. Actually it is one of my easiest weeks that I have had until today. Today I have been so hungry and want to eat everything insight. I am doing a great job though of holding back, and waiting till it is super time. I hope that after this challenge is up that I actually stay cut back on my sugar intake, because I really think it will help my body out with all the things I put it through, with being an athlete. I know that I will not totally go away from eating junk, because around certain times you crave unhealthy foods. But i plan to not go back to my old ways. Just out of curiosity, for those of you who are trying to cut back on unhealthy foods, how do you do it?

A Little Info!
This post has nothing to do with my experience with my challenge. This post is just going to be an informative post for those who do not know exactly what are some of the bad effects that eating unhealthy can have on you. While doing my research for this project, the most common this that I came across in almost every article was that having a bad diet can result in having coronary heart disease (CHD). According to Nancy Artinian, approximately 12 million American have CHD. People who are obtaining this disease is growing everyday, and this is one of the numbers that we as a society needs to bring down. This disease is in the top ten causes of death. Who knew that so many people were dying because of bad eating habits!

Obtaining knowledge in other classes!
Today in my walking class lecture, our professor decided to talk about a healthy diet. She discussed things that we should and should not consume. Out of everything she told us, he told us to remember one thing, and that was to try to never consume anything with transfats in them. This is mostly found in frozen pizza and other food that have prolonged storage life. I also learned that the calorie intake is not the same for everyone! It depends on your height and weight an if your athlete or you are not. There are many thing that come into play when determine how much of certain things you need such as calorie, fats, water, carbohydrate intake. I thought it was good not to consume fat, but what I discovered was that it is good to have a little bit of fat in your daily intake because it helps break down certain things in your body according to my professor. I learned so much things from my walking class today that I could use I my paper. I had no idea that my walking class would come in handy for this project!!

Spring Break is Tough
I never thought that being home for spring break would make my challenge super hard for me. But there are so many options for me to choose from. Such as I can go out to eat all the time I want to, and eat all the snacks I want to at home. I've done a pretty good job on not snacking and going to fast food restaurants, but I have been out to eat with my family once and my high school coaches a couple of times. I tried to order as healthy as I could, getting a salad to eat or chicken salad. Today though my friends want to go to Staggs which is a family owned restaurant that has the best ice cream in town! And since this is spring break I decided I'm going to go and have ice cream with them. I made a promise to myself that once I get back to school this is all going to stop and no more excuses for me!!! Spring break is just so tough, the only good thing about spring break ending is for this reason only!

Oops! I Gave in Yesterday
I've been doing pretty good with my challenge, but it was one of my friends birthday yesterday and I slipped. She invited me over to her house yesterday for ice cream cake, and I couldn't pass up that offer. I absolutely love ice cream cake. Other than that mishap last night I've been good my snacking has been lowered than what is use to be and it consist of mostly apple and oranges. This challenge is way harder than I thought it would be!!

First week down
To be honest I think that the first week of me giving up junk food went better than I thought it would have went. There was only one point where I broke down, but there was a really good cause. I am on the basketball team for Ball State, and Friday night we were travel to Michigan for our game on Saturday. On Friday night we stopped at Ruby Tuesdays to eat, and for a treat our coaches allowed us to order a dessert. I just could not pass this offer up. I didn't have to pay for it so I took it, but I shared with a teammate so I didn't eat the whole thing by myself. If anyone is wanting to know what I had, it was a blondie with ice cream. Other than that mishap my first week went great!!! Can't wait till the end of the 30 days though!!!
